Position Summary
The Vice President of Marketing is an experienced and dynamic
Vice President of Marketing to lead our brand strategy and digital marketing efforts. This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the CEO, with significant influence over how Sun & Ski Sports shows up in the market - online and in stores. You'll own the full marketing function, build and mentor a high-performing team, and serve as the brand's chief storyteller and digital growth driver.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Brand & Awareness
- Develop integrated marketing campaigns that drive brand awareness, customer acquisition, and seasonal relevance
- Lead creative strategy for campaigns, in-store experiences, and content across print, digital, video, and social
- Champion a customer-first approach that connects authentically with outdoor and sports enthusiasts
Digital & eCommerce
- Own the digital marketing roadmap, including SEO/SEM, paid social, email and SMS, affiliate and Youtube
- Partner with eCommerce and technology teams to optimize the online shopping experience and drive revenue growth
- Leverage data and analytics to monitor performance, identify trends, and make informed decisions that improve conversion and retention
- Drive omnichannel strategies that create a seamless experience between digital and in-store channels
Retail Promotions & Merchandising Marketing
- Own and drive the annual retail promotional calendar, ensuring campaigns are planned, aligned, and executed flawlessly across all channels and store locations
- Partner with Merchandising and Buying teams to develop compelling seasonal and event-based promotions that move inventory and drive traffic
- Coordinate timing and messaging of promotions across email, digital, social, in-store signage, and circulars for a consistent customer experience
- Analyze promotional performance to refine future offers, discount strategies, and campaign timing
Private Label Marketing
- Develop and lead the marketing strategy for Sun & Ski Sports' private label brands, positioning them as trusted, high-value alternatives within their respective categories
- Partner with Buying and Product teams to shape go-to-market plans for new private label launches, including naming, packaging, messaging, and channel strategy
- Build brand equity for private label lines through targeted digital campaigns, in-store placement, and content that highlights quality and value
- Track private label sales performance and customer perception, using insights to refine positioning and marketing investment
Leadership & Operations
- Build, lead, and inspire a collaborative marketing team across brand, digital, and content functions
- Manage the marketing budget, allocating resources effectively to maximize ROI
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Merchandising, Buying, Store Operations, and Technology teams
- Establish KPIs and reporting cadences to track marketing performance against business goals
Minimum Qualifications
- 8-10 years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role
- Proven track record driving brand growth and digital/eCommerce performance, preferably in retail, specialty retail, or consumer goods
- Deep expertise in digital marketing channels including paid search, paid social, email, SEO, and affiliate
- Strong brand instincts - you know how to build emotional resonance with a consumer audience
- Experience managing agencies, external partners, and cross-functional internal teams
- Analytical mindset with fluency in marketing analytics tools (Google Analytics, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or similar)
- Excellent communicator and presenter, comfortable engaging with executives and board-level stakeholders
- Passion for the outdoors, sports, or active lifestyle is a strong plus
